Thoughtful Christmas Gift Ideas for Pooches

Posted by

Dogs are man’s best friend, or so they say, but we tend to treat them like part of the family these days.  Indeed, when Christmas rolls around, we look just as hard for their gifts as we do for family and loved ones.

Of course, dogs are not really that fussy so it may be better to get them something for their comfort rather than something that will be eaten or finished in a day or two.

Pet care products are a great idea and this could run from some exotic dog shampoo that makes his coat shine or a pack of healthy doggy treats for your pet.  Or it may be better to give them a treat like finding a host family who will take care of them while you are away over the holidays.

Questions to ask hosts like this are very obvious; do they have other pets in the home?  How will they cope if aggression is shown?  Will they be able to keep up with medicine and food routines etc and how much walking or exercise are they willing to undertake to keep the dog happy and healthy?

Of course, pricing for this kind of service is important, but it is certainly better than putting your beloved pet into a kennels where they may be crated up all day.

In fact, if you love dogs this much, you could probably offer your services over holiday periods as well.  Training is not difficult for host families and it is much healthier for dogs to be in a home environment anyway.  It allows your dogs and the visiting dogs to socialize and this should also take care of unruly behavior too.  Any other bad habits, like jumping up on people, can be trained out of them at this time as well.
