Pet Sitter Spotlight: Vanessa S.

Posted by

Our Pet Sitter Spotlight this week features Vanessa S. Vanessa was always an active person but it was when she combined her love of fitness with her love of dogs that magic happened. She started SeeSpotRunLA.com where doggie parents can send their dogs to make sure they are getting sufficiently exercised. It’s an inspirational idea and Vanessa knows as well as anyone that a tired dog is a very happy dog. So take your dog on a run around the neighborhood and then sit down and read more about Vanessa!

What services do you provide on Dogvacay.com
Right now I am offering Dog Boarding, Dog Daycare and Dog Running Services with my company SeeSpotRunLA.com and I am looking forward to adding Full and Half Day Hiking trips as well!

When did make your first connection with a dog?
I wasn’t allowed to have pets growing up because my mom was allergic.  My best friend had a big Rhodesian Ridgeback that I used to pretend was my own and wanted to have one just like her when I grew up.  So of course as soon as I moved out I wanted to get a dog.  I was introduced to my friends French Bulldog named Nugget about 7 years ago and fell head over tails for him.  Nugget and his owner helped me pick out my first little guy and its been the best decision I’ve ever made.

How did you get started working with dogs?
I met my first dog Rupert in South Carolina and brought him home the same day. Rupert is 50% Boston Terrier, 50% French Bulldog and 100% clown. He has grown up to be a super rambunctious, high energy dog that inspired me to start SeeSpotRun.   The difference in his behavior throughout the day after a good run or fetch in the park is immediately noticeable.   After talking with trainers, taking obedience classes and researching some different views on training I found that dogs are happier and better behaved with regular exercise.

What is your experience caring for dogs?
I’ve got two fun-loving Boston Terriers at home but I have been a Dog sitter for years.  I love going to friends houses and watching their fur-kids or having them in my own home.  My dogs love when new friends come over to play so it’s a win win situation all around.

Why is home dog boarding a good option?
I think it gives the dog parents peace of mind that their furball is experiencing a more personal and attentive environment.  Bonus points if the home has other pets to help play and keep their dog well exercised!

What type of dogs do you have? What is their personality like?
I have two dogs.  Rupert Winston the Third (there was no first or second – the third just sounded dignified) is a Boston Terrier/French Bulldog.  He’s four and a half and a handful.  He can be super standoffish at first but when he gets comfortable with you he will plead with you all day to play fetch with him.  My other dog Dodger is a two-year-old Boston Terrier stuntman.  He flips and runs and jumps all over the place and serves as a great personal trainer for Rupert. Watching the two of them play together is pretty entertaining.

What can prospective clients expect from leaving their dog with you?
A fun, loving, and caring environment!  Depending on the dog I try to take them out with me on my daily See Spot Run LA runs and if they are not up for longer distance runs I take them to the dog park or have them play in my yard.  I always take lots of pictures and video and send them to the dog parents.  At the end of the day I love my dogs and will love yours just the same. No matter if they’re an active Boston Terrier or a calm Yorkie. No one wants to leave their pet, but at least you can be reassured your pet will have a great time and be loved awaiting your return.

Do you have any dog parks/trails/etc. near you?
There are two large dog parks by me and the beach boardwalks as well.  I like to take my dogs on long hikes at least once a week so we go to the Santa Monica Mountains or in Malibu!

Anything else?
Here at See Spot Run we believe that a tired dog is a happy dog. Going for walks is fine, but most dogs want – and need – more. They want to run. That’s where See Spot Run comes in. It is our goal to improve the overall quality of your dog’s life through consistent exercise.  We believe that with our help, your dog can be on his way to leading a more healthy, happy and balanced life.  We know that busy schedules make it hard to find the time to give your dog the exercise he needs and deserves.  We are here to help!
