How to Add Your Dog Boarding Business to Google Places

In the past couple of years, Google has made a shift in its search algorithm to help local businesses increase their visibility with  Google Placepages.  DogVacay wants to guide our hosts through the easy and FREE sign-up process to help everybody use Google to grow their respective in-home dog boarding businesses and be seen by even more customers.

Creating a great Place page takes just four easy steps:

Step 1 – Set up a Google Account for Your Dog Boarding Services

If you don’t have a Google Account yet, set up one up for FREE here.

Step 2 – Create Your Google Place Page

Once you’re logged into your Google Account, go here.  Type in your business’ phone number to get started.  From there, you will need to fill out some information.  Most of this is basic, but DogVacay wants to help you optimize your profile based on Google’s recommendations so that we can help you be seen in as many searches as possible.

Company: Your Dog Boarding Business Name

Address: Your Street Address

City: Your City

State: Your State

Zip: Your Zip Code

Phone: Your Phone Number

Email: Your Email Address

Website: Your DogVacay Host Profile URL

Description: A quick description of what makes your in-home dog boarding business unique.

Categories: Use the following five in this order.

  • Pet Sitter
  • Dog Sitter
  • Dog Day Care Center
  • Kennel
  • Dog Boarding

Service Areas and Location Settings:  If you do not wish for your home address to be visible in Google, check the box that says “Yes, this business serves customers at their locations.”  A new box will appear with the option “Do not show my business address on my Maps listing.”

Photos: Google allows up to ten photos for you to submit.  Use the best ones from your DogVacay profile. Download the DogVacay logo and insert into your page as well.Videos: Add our introductory video so users can learn more about in-home dog boarding and why it’s a superior alternative to the kennel.Step Three – Verify Your ListingYou’re almost done!  To verify your listing, Google will send you a PIN number needed to activate your account.  This PIN is most commonly delivered by postcard.  Postcards can take up to 2-3 weeks.Once you’re verified, you can access your account by logging into your Google Place page.  Congrats, you’re up and running!Step Four – Get Past Clients to Add ReviewsLet’s take one last step to make your Place Page as effective as possible – get your past clients to write positive reviews of their experience with you!  New customers will see your services in Google searches with five-star reviews and will be more inclined to board their dog with you.  Simply email your past clients with a link to your new Place Page and guide them to the Write a Review section.  Easy, peasy.
