Dog of the Week: Pit Bull Saves Unconscious Owner from Oncoming Train

Posted by

Pit bull in hospital after saving owner

When Christine Spain fell unconscious onto train tracks in Shirley, Massachusetts, her loyal pit bull Lilly came to her rescue. A westward-bound freight train engineer witnessed the pooch pull her owner off the train tracks as the train was quickly approaching. Emergency responders arrived at the scene to find an unharmed Spain and the 8-year-old dog at the scene. After being rushed to Angell Animal Medical Center in Boston, it was found that Lilly suffered from a fractured pelvis, internal injuries, a soon-to-be amputated right leg, and, of course, a traumatic memory. Pit bulls are often misjudged as an unloving breed, but clearly, they are one of the most loyal and caring pooches.
