Cesar Millan: Celebrity Dog Trainer and Philanthropist

Posted by

We all know him as the star of the hit show “The Dog Whisperer“, the man who communicates so well with dogs, they fall in line at the mere sight of him. He’s taught us how to train our dogs, relieve some of their behavioral issues and how to be the leader of our own packs. But if you talked to Cesar, he’d tell you that he’d rather be known as a philanthropist than a celebrity dog trainer. Dog rescue and rehabilitation are things that are very near and dear to his heart and have been from a young age. His passion and verve for the cause led him to start his own foundation which not only helps rehabilitate problem dogs but also funds animal shelters across the country.

A few years ago, Cesar fulfilled one of his childhood dreams by starting the Millan Foundation. The Millan Foundation launched on Valentine’s day in 2007 with an intent to help rehabilitate troubled dogs. The foundation is active in rehabilitating dogs of every breed and has offered many animal shelters financial support. Many times dogs are put down because they are violent or unstable and Cesar finds these situations truly tragic. Cesar wants to create awareness of the fact that a dog can exhibit aggressive behavior because of a lack of leadership and nurture and not because the dog is inherently vicious. Cesar’s goal is to rehabilitate these dogs and find them a new home where they can be loved and supported. The Millan Foundation is also focused on giving new dog owners and shelter employees the proper training. Without proper training and leadership, a dog can exhibit problematic behavior that can become exacerbated over time. Through Cesar’s training program, people across the world are finding better ways to train and communicate with their dogs, keeping hundreds of dogs out of kennels and off of streets.

It’s remarkable that a man as renowned as Cesar Millan is using his platform to really save dogs around the world. So next time you gathered up the pack with a bowl of popcorn and some tasty treats to watch “The Dog Whisperer”, remember that Cesar is using his TV platform to raise awareness for a great cause.
