Adventures in Dog Boarding is a new series that allows DogVacay customers the opportunity to tell their fun stories. Here are the tales of hosts with the most, satisfied dog owners, and the funny puppies that connect them.
Writing to review our most recent DogVacay experience. We hosted Max, an adorable 1.5 year old pup. He was a total sweetie, followed us everywhere, snuggled all the time and was great to walk since he keeps up and moves quick. He’s a really good jumper too, and LOVES other dogs… I could go on and on. Overall, he was a great dog to have around we’d take him back any day. His owners, Josh and Natalie are super nice people that have a similar dynamic to my boyfriend and I, and it was really easy to communicate and coordinate everything with them. You guys might not realize this, but I think there’s a really cool community effect going on with DogVacay. We’ve met a few couples that are right in our neighborhood, right in the same age range and with similar lifestyles. Anyway, it’s been great. We’ve got two more Vacays scheduled in the next few weeks and we’re looking forward to them.

Our senior citizen Oggie stayed with Kim L. for two nights, and both puppy and “parents” are very happy! We arranged a meet & greet a few days prior, got to see each other and make sure the dogs get along, which they did. Even more so when we went to pick Oggie up after the stay: I think he just as happily would have stayed! Kim L. is very easy to reach, stay in touch with, and will love your dog as if it were her own. Our dog needed a more relaxed environment, and Kim L. was happy to arrange a daily routine where Oggie could hang out with the people, but not stress about anything: not be left out of the pack or the activities, but not be forced to deal with too much excitement either. Couldn’t have been better.

Jennifer and I want to say thanks to you all for your efforts in putting together this needed business model. We had a German Shepard years ago that we always would take to my Mom and Dad’s house when we traveled. After Otto passed, we made the decision not to get another dog because it would be unfair to our aging parents to have them watch our dog and we would never go the kennel route. Since then, we have been watching dogs for friends and family who travel. We have watched quite a group over the years but we have never done this for the money, just our love for dogs. When I saw a write up of your site in the Chicago Tribune, we really wanted to be a part of it. And now we get paid to do what we love — how cool is that?! So we just want to say thanks again for running this site. In the short time we have been doing this we have met some wonderful people and their dogs, new friends that we will have for years to come.

Amanda was awesome! I requested a last minute Meet-N-Greet and she was able to schedule me in without issues. She has a very large fenced in yard and she provided my pup with her own bed to sleep in. I got frequent picture messages and updates from Amanda throughout the few days she was there showing me how worn out and tired my pup was from playing all day. It was perfect and I couldn’t have asked for a better first experience with DogVacay.com and Amanda. I will definitely be using her services again next time I leave town and can’t bring my pup. A+
