7 ft. Great Dane Won Guinness Book of World Records’ ‘Worlds Tallest Dog Ever’

Posted by

If you’re looking for a trusty guard dog, then George, the 245-pound, 43-inch tall (when standing), six-year-old Great Dane would be your man. Living with Dave Nasser and wife Christie, the canine has been named the world’s biggest dog by the Guinness Book of World Records, has met Oprah, and even has a book dedicated to him entitled Giant George: Life with the World’s Biggest Dog.

At just five months old, George was already the size of a Lab and his bigger-than-typical size wasn’t going unnoticed, even by talk show host Oprah Winfrey. Thanks to Facebook and YouTube, Oprah’s staff found out about Giant George and decided to feature him on the show. After American Airlines allowed George to fly with them (taking up three seats at the front of the plane), Giant George, Dave, and Christie were greeted in the Chicago airport by video cameras, flashing lights, and open-mouthed passerby’s. At the Oprah Winfrey studios, Giant George was more famous than most A-list celebrities who stepped into the building. When it was ready for show time, Oprah announced George’s win of the Guinness World Records for Tallest Dog Ever and Tallest Living Dog and the crowd loved him.

Featured in Reader’s Digest, the Southern Arizona Humane Society’s Puttin’ On the Dog fundraiser event, on Inside Edition, and more, Giant George continues to make people smile.

Fun facts about George:

  • He sleeps on a queen-sized mattress…alone.
  • He consumes about 180 pounds of food a month.
  • He is afraid of Chihuahua’s.
  • He weighs 100 pounds more than a regular Great Dane.
  • He sits in a chair like a human.
